How Chime Grew to 10M+ Users With YouTube Creator Sponsorships

Chime is one of the biggest consumer fintechs in the US, and a YouTube creator sponsorship program is a big reason why. They started early in 2021, hit volume across the niches their target market actually watches (podcast networks, sports and pop-culture shows, long-form finance), doubled down, and after a stretch around the IPO where they pulled back to focus on going public, came back and posted their biggest quarter on record. We know the full curve because Scout indexed every read: 848 paid sponsor reads across 347 creators since 2021, 673.8M combined views, detected in the creators' own words on the transcript.

Chime sponsored YouTube videos per quarter with new iOS ratings per quarter, 2021 to 2026

By The Numbers

  • 848 paid sponsor reads
  • 347 creators
  • 673.8M views on those reads
  • 39 → 149 reads per quarter from the first peak (Q4 2022) to Q3 2026 (through Sep 22)
  • 6 → 138 unique channels per quarter over the same window
  • 5.3M → 10.4M Active Members over the same window (SEC-reported)

Every sponsor read here was detected by Scout reading the video transcript and catching the sponsor in the creator's own words, so the roster is what actually ran, not what was announced. Chime's Active Member counts come straight from SEC filings on EDGAR (CIK 1795586). Q3 2026 is a partial quarter, measured through September 22, 2026.

Where They Started

Chime is a consumer fintech that sells no-fee banking, SpotMe overdraft, MyPay early-pay, Instant Loans, Chime Deals, and now Chime Prime. Every one of those needs 45 to 90 seconds of demo before a viewer gets the value. That narrows the channel options.

Chime Deals in the app: home tile, nearby-deals map, and one-tap activation for cash back at Jimmy John's

Between February 2021 and Q4 2022, Chime grew a first-generation YouTube program to 39 sponsored videos in a quarter. That is where the program starts on the chart above, and where the story really starts too.

Start Early, Hit Volume, Double Down

Chime got into YouTube sponsorships early and treated it as a channel, not a campaign. February 2021 to Q4 2022, the program scaled from 2 reads a quarter to 39, across podcast networks (YEA, Kinda Funny), sports and pop-culture shows (The Ringer, Momentum, Channel Awesome), and long-form personal finance (Andrew Giancola). Not one big influencer bet. Volume across the niches their target market actually watches.

Chime pushed past 5M Active Members through this window, and the sponsor cadence tells you the team kept doubling down as long as the numbers held.

Then it slowed. From 15 reads in Q4 2023, to 10, to 7, to 16, to 23, to 9 in Q1 2025. The most defensible read is capital allocation: Chime was heads-down on the IPO (which closed June 12, 2025), and paid channels are the first thing a company parks when leadership is focused on the offering. The organic base kept working through the whole stretch. Scout's dataset holds 8,102 non-paid Chime mentions from finance creators, product reviewers, and everyday testimonials in the same window; Chime was culturally embedded in personal-finance YouTube before the paid program was ever the biggest lever.

The IPO closed. That quarter, paid output more than doubled off the floor to 38. Then 44, 50, 88, 144, and 149 so far in Q3 2026 (through Sep 22). Channel breadth went from 6 unique channels in Q4 2024 to 138. The second run of the program is nearly four times the peak of the first and more than twenty times its breadth. Best quarter on record, and the quarter is not over.

Why It Worked The Second Time

Two reasons. First, the org was ready. During the pause, Chime built out a marketing team sized to run channels in parallel, so when the program came back it did not need a new team, it needed a channel line item. The shape of the roster (podcast networks, long-form YouTube, no meaningful short-form paid presence) is what a mature growth org looks like when it treats creators as a channel.

Second, the audience the paid program buys is the audience the public market pays for. Podcast networks, sports and pop-culture shows, and long-form finance skew toward people with the patience for a full host read and the income to use more than one Chime product once inside. That is a direct lever on the numbers investors track. Hypothesis, not proof: Chime does not disclose per-channel attribution.

Who They Sponsored

The easy assumption is that a fintech would buy the big personal-finance YouTubers. The data rules that out.

Chime's top sponsored channels by paid read count are podcast networks and pop-culture shows, not finance explainers.

One personal-finance host in the top ten. The rest are general-audience shows with loyal listeners. Chime is buying attention that stays put, then paying the host to make the read feel personal. Podcast-network deals like YEA also fan a single ad across many shows in the network, so paid-read count understates how much distribution one deal actually buys.

The roster is not only mid-size shows. Dude Perfect, at 62.7 million subscribers, ran an integrated Chime read inside a video, not a thumbnail placement or an end-card. That is the format the whole program is built on: the host spends real time on camera with the product, in a video people watch to the end.

The video is "Average Dude vs. Luka Doncic (1-on-1)," and the read carries the on-screen Chime lower-third with the MoneyPass ATM disclosure.

Why Those Channels Work

This part is a read, not a measurement. What the top of the roster has in common is format.

Podcast networks and pop-culture shows work for a bank because both audiences skew "already listening to someone they trust for 45+ minutes." That is the format a new-account decision needs. A viewer who sat through the Ringer's fantasy football takes for a whole segment is one host-read away from downloading Chime; a viewer who thumb-scrolled a fintech promo on TikTok is not.

The finding sits under the roster, not on top of it. Chime chose loyalty over reach.

Why YouTube

Chime is a high-consideration product. Opening an account means uploading ID and moving direct deposit. That decision happens after a host the viewer already trusts spends 60 to 90 seconds explaining what SpotMe is and what it costs (nothing). Podcast host reads and long-form YouTube integrations are the highest-trust ad formats that scale.

Short-form does not give a fintech that minute. It gives an impression. And a Chime read at minute 12 of a Q3 2025 YouTube video is still recommendable, still searchable, and still driving signups today; a TikTok CTA peaks in 48 hours. YouTube is also the #2 search engine, so "best debit card 2026," "how does SpotMe work," "chime vs sofi" queries surface old sponsored videos years after the read went live. That is free distribution the brand paid for once.

We can find no meaningful paid TikTok or Instagram creator presence for Chime. The paid roster is podcast-network-heavy and long-form-YouTube-heavy by design.

Why The Reads Compound

Because Chime is a public company, we can plot the sponsor program directly against reported KPIs, no bracketing.

Reported quarterSponsored videosActive Members (M)ARPAM ($)Revenue ($M)
Q2 2025 (IPO June 12)388.7245528

Q2 202614410.4260670
Q3 2026 (through Sep 22)149not yet reportednot yet reportednot yet reported

Sources: Q4 2025 revenue and KPIs from the Q4/FY2025 release (2026-02-25). Q1 2026 members, ARPAM and revenue from the Q1 2026 release (SEC Ex. 99.1, 2026-05-06).

Two things stand out. Active Members compounded straight through the IPO transition, +20% year-over-year, with 1.7M net-new added in the four quarters output went from 38 to 144. And ARPAM went from $245 to $260 in that same window: monetizing the base harder while adding to it. Q1 2026 ARPAM of $263 is the high point; it ticked back to $260 in Q2 2026 rather than climbing straight. Most fintech curves show ARPU compression as membership expands. Chime's does not.

What This Means For Your Brand

If you sell a high-consideration product, the ad has to buy the viewer a minute of trust. Long-form YouTube and video-podcast networks give you that minute at scale. Short-form gives an impression.

Buy loyalty, not follower count. Chime's top ten channels are podcast networks and pop-culture shows, chosen because the audience already listens to that host for 45+ minutes at a stretch. That is the format a new-account decision needs.

Podcast networks compound the buy. One YEA Podcasts deal ran across a network. Direct-to-creator can be higher trust; network deals are cheaper per read. Chime runs both.

Treat it as a channel, not a campaign. Chime's program is five years and 848 reads deep, across 347 creators. The compounding comes from sustained volume across niches your audience actually watches, not one hit video. Even the stretch when Chime pulled back to focus on the IPO turned out to be a wrinkle, not a wall.

You don't need a headcount to run it. Chime scaled to 149 videos in a partial quarter with no listed creator-partnerships hire. Agencies and growth-marketing generalists can carry a program of that size when the playbook is right.

Methodology

Sponsor reads. Scout indexes YouTube transcripts and classifies brand mentions. This case study counts only paid reads (Integrated or Dedicated), deduped by video: 848 reads / 347 channels / 673.8M views, measured 2026-09-22. Q3 2026 is a partial quarter through September 22 and will rise before it closes.

iOS ratings. The black line on the chart is new iOS ratings per quarter (the App Store's 1-to-5 tap), reconstructed from Wayback Machine snapshots and anchored to a live iTunes Lookup reading of 1,595,103 total ratings on 2026-09-22. Treat as an engagement signal, not a user count.

Chime KPIs. Active Members, ARPAM, and Revenue come from Chime's SEC filings on EDGAR (CIK 1795586): S-1/A and 424B4 around the June 12, 2025 IPO, 10-K FY2025, and 10-Qs Q2/Q3 2025 and Q1/Q2 2026. Chime did not report quarterly revenue before the IPO.

What we cannot see. CAC, LTV, per-channel attribution, why the pause happened. Chime reports aggregate marketing expense with no paid-creator line, and the paid program sits on top of 8,102 organic Chime mentions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many YouTube sponsorships has Chime done? 848 paid sponsor reads across 347 creators since February 2021, per Scout's transcript-derived index (measured 2026-09-22). Combined views on those reads: 673.8 million. Including affiliate links and unpaid mentions, Chime appears in 10,313 videos across 2,019 channels.

Which YouTubers and podcasts does Chime sponsor? Podcast networks and pop-culture shows dominate the paid roster: YEA Podcasts, Kinda Funny Games, Steve and Larson, GETLIKECOOP, Andrew Giancola, The Ringer Fantasy Football Show, Momentum, Channel Awesome, Kinda Funny Highlights, and A.M. Hoops lead by paid-read count. Dude Perfect (62.7M subs) ran an integrated read in "Average Dude vs. Luka Doncic (1-on-1)." Personal-finance creators appear but do not dominate.

How much does Chime spend on YouTube sponsorships? Chime does not disclose it, and we are not publishing a dollar estimate. A credible number needs financial-services integration rate data we are not publishing here. What is observable: 848 paid reads, 347 creators, 673.8M views, cadence charted above.

Do YouTube and podcast sponsorships work for fintech growth? For Chime, paid-read output went from 38 in the IPO quarter (Q2 2025) to 144 in Q2 2026 while SEC-reported Active Members grew from 8.7M to 10.4M and ARPAM rose from $245 to $260. Correlation shown; attribution left to the reader. The organic base (8,102 non-paid mentions) also contributes and cannot be separated cleanly.

What is Chime's revenue? Reported quarterly since IPO: $528M in Q2 2025, $544M in Q3 2025, $596M in Q4 2025, $647M in Q1 2026, $670M in Q2 2026. Sources: 10-K FY2025 and the 10-Qs listed above.

Appendix: Estimating The Spend

Chime reports aggregate marketing expense with no paid-creator line. A credible dollar figure needs rate data we are not publishing here. What we can put on the record instead is what is observable from the transcript index:

  • 848 paid reads (Integrated or Dedicated) since February 2021
  • 347 unique creators
  • 673.8M combined views on those reads
  • cadence built from 2 reads in Q1 2021 to a first peak of 39 in Q4 2022, ran between 7 and 23 during a stretch around the IPO, and hit 149 in Q3 2026 (through Sep 22)

Financial-services integrations run well above display-ad CPMs. Applying display-ad pricing to a roster that includes Dude Perfect is what an earlier draft did; the number was an order of magnitude too low and is out.
